The smiling boy looks relaxed and is painted in yellow salmon-orange colors. Making them look like black and white.
However, they are from the same tones. Next to purple comes red, orange, and yellow. Maybe indicating that this is the boy. Or a part of him.
Perhaps the devilish face is not even evil at all. But a watchman watching over him, making the boy able to daydream in peace.
