As in, I cross this out. The action itself might be easy. But the consequences far less. The title Little Cross could also refer to the small size of the painting. That what was once beautiful has been covered with a black cross. It is still there in the background. But one can see it no more. That particular thing that happened has blocked the good memories. There is no turning back. It is crossed out now. Or one wants to cross it. Since that would be healthier for oneself. The little cross becomes the painting.
