I am Great

This video has been shown on national television in the Art Program VPRO Nachtpodium.

‘I am Great’ is shot outdoors in the streets of multi cultural Rotterdam. The camera registers arbitrary passersby that get a sticker stuck on. "I am Great" says the sticker. The reactions people show are very diverse; we see a lot of people laughing, there is unbelief, shyness, questioning, feeling proud. Also one man is misunderstanding the Dutch word on the sticker ‘geweldig’ (great) which comes close to ‘geweldadig’ (violent).

There are many people, who are quite competent and/or very interesting, but they don't feel themselves that great. with this action I wanted to make people think good about themselves and that they at least to theselves dare to say: "I am Great".
