Until 1999, I painted intensively on self-prepared and stretched canvas. Aka Regular Stretched Canvas (Museum Wrap). That means, that all the paintings in this series are 100% handmade, from the production of the canvases to the actual paintings.
This also means that the paintings are not even in size. Partly intentionally, partly because I painted on the canvases that I had ready.
Marriage Road No. 2 has again married couple Corry and Herman looking away from each other. And outside of the frame. But their eyes are shut. They are introverted. They have been painted in a sort of white plus red skin, or pink color. And the yellow road is looking bright and clear, like a beacon in the middle of them. The grass is green and stretches to the high and far horizon with blue skies.
