Party Lip
Two drawings preceded the painting Party Lip. Made with colored pencil on one piece of paper of 21 by 30 cm (8.3 x 11.8 in). Also made in 1998.
It is the depiction of a female figure with her hair in a ponytail during a Gabber party. The yellow we see around her face and body might be her energy. And the red eyes in the black background the other party people, either high or not, on drugs. Looking but really not looking. But definitely switched on.
The young woman is looking outside of the canvas. And she is sucking her upper lip. If you have been there, you know the feeling.
