|Art Park - Intimate Gatherings
Art Park - Intimate Gatherings were three intimate gatherings in April and May 2019 that took place in the Taiziwan park in Hangzhou. Each time one poet and one contemporary artist whose work is influenced by living in China shared their impressions through their work. This was then followed by an open discussion on living in China.
Art Park - Intimate Gatherings was and is meant as a platform in nature, where we can connect via art and poetry and discussion. It is for everybody—from art connoisseurs to people who are not per se contemporary art knowledgeable. I like these kinds of settings where there is room for intimacy and where the work can go deeper by communication and shared information. Art Park - Intimate Gatherings is a way of disseminating contemporary art in China. With the poems and artworks forming a catalyst to help a certain kind of discussion open up.
Contemporary art is not elitist. It is from life for life. I encourage everyone to set up an Art Park - Intimate Gatherings. If you are an artist yourself, a beginning art lover, an existing art institute, or a community of people. May this postcard size book inspire you to curate your own Art Park - Intimate Gatherings. Connect, collaborate or do it yourself. If Art Park - Intimate Gatherings has a goal then it is to be a place for healing and sharing. Don’t lock up art. Let it freely disperse. I wish that Art Park - Intimate Gatherings may spread in joy and openness and stay all-inclusive and free as I intended it to be.
