These portrait studies I made while studying at the Art Academy in the Netherlands.
Portraits
Bernd was in a different department than me. But we got along quite well, up until I had self-organized exhibitions outside of the art academy. Perhaps he was jealous? But his attitude towards me changed.
Love
But I was feeling genuine friendship for Bernd. I thought he was articulate, intelligent, goal-oriented (he knew what he wanted). And very good at his skill (he was studying graphic design). He was also very good at writing. In my idea, he was far ahead of me.
In this painting, he is working with his hands. The background is painted pink. Which I felt fitted with his feminine side. He is focused on the contrast-colored green object that he has in his hands and is forming.
