I produce my art as authentic as I can. As a way of giving back to the world, what the world has given me.
I take responsibility for my art. And I want to be successful in what I do. I strive that my legacy will be that my art touches lives and thus has significance.
Excellence and experience
I want my art to be of the best quality that I can put forward. And want excellence to be my “brand.” In every experience I create, I am trying to add value and doing the right thing. And I strive that my art continuously grows into the best it can be.
Art is my passion. Art is what I am supposed to be doing. In art, I have found what I love. How do I know? Because I am fuelled and fulfilled by the energy of my work. How do I know what I am supposed to be doing? I know I am doing the right thing since it feels like it is the right thing. How do I know? Because I did and would do it for nothing. And would find a way to be able to do it and to be able to continue. This is what I have been doing for 20+ years now.
Art to Connect
I hope that the people I interact with feel this. The fundamental base of my art is engagement.
In art school, the teachers called me the Errant Knight (Dutch: Dolende Ridder). But the knight-errant is a character that has broken away from the world of his origin, to go off on his own to right wrongs or to test and assert his chivalric ideals. He is motivated by idealism and goals that are often illusory.
Tribe of Light Knights
I want to adjust this and prefer to call myself a Light Knight.
The 3rd law of motion and physics says that what you are putting out is coming back to you all the time. So you have to be a Light Knight too.
It is so easy to get distracted by haters or negativity. One has to make an effort to stay (in the) light.
In the core, this is what is the energy of my art series Sun-Penetrations. Where ever I am—mentally or physically—the light, fortunately, is stronger.
Sunlight penetrates through holes or cracks and pierces into the darkness. And the Sun-Penetrations finds its way to me, to you, to all of us.
